Throw Down the Gauntlet! Blues Judo is Coming in 2026 – Learn the Art of Effortless Power!

Following a successful year in basketball, the Blues Club is thrilled to introduce another incredible martial art to our offering: Blues Judo!

Beginning in January 2026, come train at the Blues Complex and learn the “Gentle Way”—the dynamic sport that uses an opponent’s strength against them.

What Judo Can Do For You

Judo is a full-body physical and mental discipline developed in Japan. It’s perfect for athletes looking to improve balance, core strength, and quick decision-making—skills that are highly valuable in sports like basketball.

  • Master of Balance: Learn to control your centre of gravity and that of your opponent, dramatically improving stability and agility.
  • Safe & Controlled Practice: Judo is a grappling sport performed on soft mats, focusing on controlled throws and safe falling techniques (Ukemi).
  • Total Body Strength: Develop incredible functional strength, particularly in the core, legs, and back, which is beneficial for any sport.
  • Confidence & Respect: Participate in a supportive community that highly values mutual respect, humility, and persistence.

As a multi-sport club, we recognise the synergy between different disciplines. Judo is a fantastic cross-training activity that enhances explosiveness and spatial awareness—qualities essential for a great basketball player!
