It all began as a dream shared by a group of young boys, a vision to form a team, play club basketball, and make their mark in the sport. What started as simple aspirations soon transformed into something extraordinary. These boys, united by their love for the game, became a force to be reckoned with. They climbed to unimaginable heights, winning tournaments back-to-back and even clinching championships against teams bolstered by foreign players, all with a roster composed entirely of local talent.

This wasn’t just a team; it was a brotherhood. Driven by passion and purpose, this brotherhood took a giant leap, not just for themselves but for basketball in Sri Lanka. Thus, the Blues School of Basketball was born, a space to nurture talent, foster community, and develop the sport for generations to come.

Now, 16 years later, the Blues School of Basketball stands as a thriving hub of activity, housing over 400 kids who come together to learn, grow, and play the game they love.

As a significant step toward the development of basketball in Sri Lanka, the iconic Henry Pedris Ground was transformed into a modern, 2,000-seat basketball arena meeting international standards. Renamed the Blues Basketball Complex in 2012, it has become a symbol of the sport’s growth and a central hub for players and fans alike.

But the Blues story doesn’t end there. True to their roots, Blues has become a beacon of generosity and inclusion, extending a helping hand to those in need. From donating basketball equipment, including backboards, to 50 schools, to organizing coaching camps in rural areas, their efforts have made the sport accessible to all. They’ve even ensured that people of all abilities have the opportunity to join the game, breaking barriers and redefining what it means to be part of the basketball community.

Blues isn’t just a name; it’s a legacy, a testament to what dreams, hard work, and a shared purpose can achieve. It’s a story of basketball, brotherhood, and the boundless possibilities of giving back.
